Modern Apprenticeships

What Is A Modern Apprenticeship?

A Modern Apprenticeship is a collection of skills, abilities and attitudes which shows that a person has what it takes to work and be successful in a particular job.  These standards are set, monitored and reviewed by the industry itself to ensure they aptly reflect the changing needs of a modernising workforce.

Modern Apprenticeships are recognised by employers as the only true vocational award for practitioners at a higher level in the industry. The hospitality framework has a number of requirements. Each candidate must complete a level 2 SVQ, a Level 3 SVQ, 5 core skills and pass an elementary food hygiene award, Health and Safety and
If a candidate is over 18 years old and can prove 18 months appropriate industry experience then they may be exempt from the level 2

The award is a vocational qualification which means that it is gained while working and learning in the work-place.  This means that the skills learned are not theoretical but have been honed in a real pressure driven environment.  Employers appreciate and value this as it shows that an employee or a new job candidate has the professional ability to perform at the required level.
